Vote andrew Barnes for Menlo Park City school Board
Andrew Barnes
Menlo Park
School Board
Strong Schools.
Responsible Stewardship.

My family has benefited tremendously from the MPCSD. I'm running for School Board because I want to give back to the district that helped shape my son and so many other students.
As MPCSD's Chair of the Measure U Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee and as capital project professional with Santa Clara County, I bring experience overseeing public projects, managing public resources, and planning for the future.
Most importantly, I want to help ensure MPCSD remains a district where students, families, and staff have the opportunity to be the best version of themselves. In our case, that started with the wonderful Spanish Immersion program.
I respectfully ask for your vote.
Why
I'm
Running

Strong Academics
Support the teachers, programs, and learning environments that make MPCSD exceptional.

Planning Ahead
Bring practical experience to district facilities, capital projects, and long-term planning.

Fiscal Responsibility
Thoughtfully evaluate trade-offs and responsibly manage MPCSD budgets.
My Priorities

Student Well-Being
Help ensure students feel safe, supported, and seen.
MPCSD is already a strong district.
My goal is to help maintain what makes it successful while planning responsibly for the future. I believe my experience can help the district navigate important decisions about school facilities, budgets, and long-range planning.

Looking Ahead
Meet Andrew
My son attended Laurel Elementary and Hillview Middle School and is now a freshman at Menlo-Atherton High School. Watching him grow through the district gave me a firsthand appreciation for the teachers, staff, and community that make MPCSD such a special place.
My Professional Experience
I work in facilities and real estate for Santa Clara County's Facilities and Fleet Department, managing acquisitions, capital improvements, and real estate projects across more than 110 sites. My work involves overseeing public projects, managing budgets, and planning for the long term.
My Community Work
I currently serve as Chair of MPCSD's Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee for Measure U, helping ensure transparency and accountability for the district's $123 million voter-approved bond program. Measure U funds major facility improvements throughout the district, including the Lower Laurel redevelopment and improvements at Oak Knoll, Encinal, and Hillview.
After moving to Menlo Park in 2010, I wanted to do my share. My community work includes:
-
MPCSD Housing Element Advisory Team
-
Menlo Park Planning Commissioner, 2016-2024
-
Menlo Park Environmental Quality Commissioner
-
Menlo Park Transportation Master Plan Oversight Committee

"I hope to ensure that future students have the same opportunities that my son enjoyed. The Spanish immersion program at MPCSD is one of them."

I’ve seen Andrew in action across many roles and I’ve always been impressed by his thoughtfulness and careful consideration of any topic. He’s the type of person who fully understands a complicated issue before making any decision, something I greatly appreciate when current trends demand a hot take on any topic. I know that Andrew will be a strong member of our school board, whose candidacy I wholeheartedly support.
Ritu Chitkara, MD
